NBA 2K26 Season 2 Update Details

NBA 2K26 has been a very popular game since its release, and it has been much anticipated by many NBA 2K fans. Although some people have had complaints about the game and the developers plan to do something about it with the release of the new season that came out on Friday, October 17, 2025.
The game has received a lot of hate based on the shot contest system. For example, if you take a shot in a game, the defender has a certain percentage on how well he contested the shot. This system has not been that good since the release of the game, and many players have complained about how easy it is to shoot in a defender's face. With this new update 2K26 developers have stated that it has been buffed making it easier to get a contest on a player as a defender.
The game has also been receiving much backlash because of how easy it is to fade. The green window (how big the window to make the shot is) is bigger when the player fades the ball making it very overpowered and very easy to hit. However, the developers plan to do something about it by making the green window smaller, making it harder for players to hit pull up jumpers.
Playing defense in this game has been quite a challenge for many people because of how bad the game registers stealing the ball as a defender. Getting steals in 2K26 is very hard because of ball collision detection which means how well the game registers a player's body, hitting the ball causing a steal. This mechanism is being buffed because ball collision detection is being improved, making it easier for players to play defense.
There is one takeover (an ability given to the player after making many shots causing in increase in certain attributes) in the game which is very overpowered, and it is called “blur.” This takeover is supposed to give the player an advantage to score the ball, but instead it makes it way too easy. It gives the player a huge green window whenever they try to dunk on a player when it is only supposed to increase it a little bit. The game plans to nerf this by reducing the green window of this takeover to only a little bit of advantage.
A mechanic called rhythm shooting, another way to shoot the ball, has been getting a lot of criticism because of how easy it is to make a shot. To make normal shots you must get the timing correct, but with rhythm shooting you only have to get tempo of a shot right and not the actual shot timing. So technically the player doesn’t have to green the shot to make the shot. The game plans to make this mechanic worse this by making it so the player must time the tempo and the timing of a shot and not only the tempo to make the shot.
