The Premier League Title Race Is Getting Close

The English Premier League title race is super close right now, and it's making December games exciting. Arsenal is leading the race, but only by a couple of points. Manchester City, who everyone expected to be first, is right behind them. The biggest surprise is Aston Villa. They are somehow in third place, just three points away from being number one. It's a huge deal because no one expected a team like Villa to be this good late in the season.

Big Weekend for Underdogs

This past weekend on December 14 some major upsets that really changed things up. Tottenham was doing well, but they lost 3-0 to Nottingham Forest. That probably crushed their confidence. Also, Sunderland beat their big rivals, Newcastle, 1-0 in their derby game. It was a massive win for them. And Aston Villa just keeps on winning. They beat West Ham 3-2, coming back twice to do it, which keeps their dream of winning the whole thing alive.

Pressure on the Coaches

The managers are starting to feel the heat. After Man City's 3-0 win, their coach, Pep Guardiola, said his player Phil Foden was playing "too anxious," which shows how stressed everyone is. Arsenal is only winning with luck needing their own goals to beat the worst team in the league. Some people, like the old player Wayne Rooney, are already saying Aston Villa has "no chance" of winning the title. That just adds more drama to the whole title race and might make Villa want to prove him wrong.
