Real Madrid led a dramatic victory over Marseille by Kylian Mbappe in a 2-1 victory at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday September 16. Los Blancos started off strong with an attempted bicycle kick by Kylian Mbappe that went just wide of the post. Marseille kicked off a counterattack minutes later and scored the opener. Just minutes later, Real Madrid won an obvious penalty from a bad challenge made by Kondogbia on Rodrygo in the box. Mbappe eventually found the back of the net with a rocket into the far-left corner. The game shortly restarted but both teams struggled to create any dangerous attacks with neither team scoring to conclude the half.

The Second half kicked off with many controversial challenges, with the first one being an intense altercation between Dani Carvajal and Rulli before a tense decision to give a red card after the two exchange a clash of heads. Minutes later Real Madrid started a counterattack which ended with a very controversial decision made by the referee, Irfan Peljto, to give a penalty. This was after what seemed to be a very controversial handball offense. This led many people to question the handball rule. Mbappe set up from the penalty spot again and made a spectacular strike into the same bottom corner to win the game.
This spectacular performance from Kylian Mbappé led to a 2-1 victory and a Man of the Match award for the Frenchman. This was given to him thanks to his amazing attacking ability in the final third and his incredible ability to shoot penalties and land them into the back of the net. This game also marked his 50th goal for the club, which is another reason why the award was given to Kylian.
